Spectrophotometry is a method used to estimate the level of an analyte in solution. The basic principle is that each compound absorbs or transmits light over a certain range of wavelength as it passes through the solution. In other words, each chemical compound has a unique absorbance in different wavelengths which can be used to determine the properties of the compound.

Nano spectrophotometer is the smallest spectrometer in the world. This device generally consists of four main parts including light source, polychromator, array detector and sample cell. Usually an incandescent with LED support is used as light source to produce visible light with wavelengths in the range of 340-880 nm. During analysis, incident light interacts with sample and transmits through it; then light passes through the slit and finally reaches to a monochromator for detection. After analyzing the wavelengths of light in the range of 340 to 880 nm, the absorption is measured by the software and the spectrum is drawn.

  • The nano spectrophotometer is a portable and small instrument; these features make the device a useful analytical tool in a wide range of applications. Nano spectrophotometer is used for analysis of chemical, biochemical, nano, pharmaceutical, petroleum, mineral, petrochemical, polymeric, clinical and so on.

This device is the smallest spectrophotometer in the world. Being small and portable, mobile data transfer and wireless charging are of the unique features of this tool. Details of technical specifications are presented in the following Table.


Nanoparticles have optical properties that are sensitive to size, shape, concentration, agglomeration state, and refractive index near the nanoparticle surface, which makes spectrophotometry a valuable tool for identifying, characterizing, and studying these materials. Therefore, using a nano spectrophotometer each nanoparticle in low volume can be identified and measured.

  • To turn off the device, first turn off the shutter and lamp; wait about 30 seconds to fan being off. Then turn off the device. To avoid electrical fluctuations and damage to the device, it is better to use UPS.
  • Spectrophotometer and sample container must be kept clean. Furthermore, device should be cleaned with soft and damp cloth. Be careful not to allow any liquid goes into the device because it may damage the device and be dangerous.

  • At the end of the work, remove the specimens from the sample cell.
  • Use proper methods for sample disposal.
  • Make sure the device is off.
  • The device is packed with accessories, including software CD, USB and electrical cable, calibration sheet and guaranty sheet.
