Anti Bacterial Socks Containing Ag Nanoparticles
Rate : 3

When feet perspire, bacteria thrive in the damp fibers and where bacteria thrive, odor thrives too. Wearing antibacterial socks can actually prevent foot diseases and infections. With the increase in concern about foot health, nanoparticles enhanced footwear offers clear consumer advantages. Nanoparticles destroy bacteria resulting in removing foot odor and other contaminants arisen from bacteria. This product is an antibacterial sock containing silver nanoparticles.

Ag concentration in the socks is less than 2 ppm.

In nano-dimension, antibacterial effect of silver increases significantly, so that they are able to destroy over 650 bacterial species. It is reported that these nanoparticles have significant antifungal activities against some ringworms. Ag nanoparticles interact with sulfur and phosphorus compounds of membrane proteins affecting cell morphology and structure, causing its death. With decreasing particle size, the release of silver ions increases, leading to increasing their antibacterial activities.

This product shows high antibacterial activity according to INSO 11070. The following table clarifies how high its activity against E.Coli and S.aureus bacteria is.

     Antibacterial Activity
Acceptable Standard Level 2
Control Sample 0
Nano Sample (E.Coli)2.77
Nano Sample (S.aureus)3.92

It should be noted that there are limited investigations on the safety of nanoproducts because of their new history.
